LEGALIZING YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE: If you're doing official or government paperwork and processes (like obtaining visas, getting married, or starting a business) in a country other than the one you were born in, there's a good chance that at some point you will need to produce your birth certificate. The trouble is there's no way for the foreign country to be sure it's a legitimate document if you just hand them your original; it will not be accepted unless you get an apostille and translation for the birth certificate. We can help you legalize, translate and get an apostille for your birth certitificate.

There are basically 4 steps to legalize documents so they may be used in another country. Sometimes legalization is not required. The destiny and origin countries of your documents and the reason for which they will be used may effect how many steps you must complete. The four steps are 1) document authentication (notary/courthouse/government), 2) document apostille (by country/state of origin), 3) document translation, and 4) document legalization in Colombia or receiving country (where applicable).

Whether you were born in the United States and are now in Colombia, or you were born in Colombia and are getting a marriage or residency in the United States, if you have to show your birth certificate it will need to be certified authentic and translated to your host country's language. Our office can take care of this process for you.

The Colombian apostille certifies that your Colombian birth certificate is recognized by the Colombian government, and should therefore be recognized in other countries. We are connected with the more than 800 notaries and registry offices across Colombia to be able to quickly apostille your documents in as little as 24 hours. We guarantee our service! Along with our apostille service, we also offer English and Spanish translation services for your US or Colombian birth certificate. We can translate other languages as well, just ask.

Getting married in Colombia is one occasion when you will need to produce a birth certificate. Colombian citizens must prove they are single when they get married to ensure no one gets married to more than one person at a time, and they do that with a birth certificate that indicates their marriage status. If you are from another country and are getting married in Colombia, you will have to prove your single status with a variety of official documents, each of which will need to be translated and receive an apostille from the country of origin.
